IRV and the LACCD

The Los Angeles Community College District currently uses a two-round runoff system to elect its Board Members. However, this method isinefficient and wastes millions of tax dollars in administering a second election that typically sees extrememly low voter turnout (only 6% in May 2007). With Instant Runoff Voting (IRV), LACCD elections will improve as IRV saves millions of dollars, increases voter choice and participation, and promotes positive campaigning.
